SIGHTSEEING TOUR OF ATHIRAPALLY WATERFALLS WITH LUNCH

Morning around 10 AM, pick up from the venue hotel Le Meridien and drive to Athirapally to view the waterfalls with packed lunch.

This scintillating waterfall in thick green forest is a part of the Chalakudy river stream. It is near to the entrance of the Sholayar range is a place of great scenic beauty. Here, the water plunges from a height of nearly 80 feet before joining the Chalakudy River.

Around 3 PM, drive back to the conference venue.

DAY CRUISE & LUNCH ON TRADITIONAL KERALA HOUSEBOAT –ALLEPPEY / KUMARAKOM

Around 11 AM pick up from the venue hotel Le Meridien and drive to Alleppey/Kumarakom (around 1 hour drive). Board a traditional Kerala houseboat from Pallathuruthy Jetty at Alleppey / Thaneermukkom Jetty at Kumarakom and cruise along the serene backwaters of Alleppey/Kumarakom.

During the cruise, the countryside offers a close look into an engaging rustic life. Skiff-fishermen launching their cockshell boats, large flotillas of ducks waddling down to the water from thatched houses on the banks, women, neck-deep in water, with their waist-length hair heaped in a crown, searching for fish with their feet and aimless cattle grazing in lush pastureland, where white lotuses lie here and there in small, low-lying pools.

The chef will serve you exquisite Kerala style lunch on board. Evening after tea and snacks around 5 PM, disembark the houseboat at the same jetty and drive back to Cochin.

HALF DAY COCHIN HERITAGE TOUR

Around 10 AM, pick up from the venue hotel Le Meridien and proceed for a sightseeing tour of Fort Cochin and Mattancherry.

In Fort Cochin, St. Francis Church, Santa Cruz Basilica and Chinese fishing nets at the Fort Cochin beach are the main attractions. Walk through the “Heritage Zone”; the Fort Cochin area, where the Portuguese settled in the 16th century.

In Mattancherry, visit the Palace of the Raja (Dutch Palace) and the Jewish Synagogue. Also the Jew Street; the area around the Synagogue which is a centre of spice trade and curio shops. Around 1 PM, drive back to the conference venue.

HALF DAY CITY & SHOPPING TOUR OF KOCHI

Afternoon by 2 PM, pick up from the venue hotel Le Meridien and proceed to Broadway and MG Road, the major shopping centers in Cochin.

Like other major cities in India, Kochi is a shopper's delight with textiles, readymade garments, jewellery, handi crafts, antiques as well as spices. Kochi city has a wide range of shops to cater to the needs of the tourists. With factory outlets opening up in the city, fancy, ready to wear brands are available at reasonable prices for the fashion conscious Kochinites. The major shopping centers are located on the M.G road, Broadway and Marine Drive in the mainland Ernakulam.

Evening by 5 PM drive back to venue hotel.

MOTORBOAT CRUISE WITH LUNCH FROM THE VENUE

Morning by 10 AM board a Motor Boat from the venue Le Meridien and cruise along the serene backwaters of Vaikom – North Kumarkom (around 2 – 2 ½ hrs cruise).

By noon disembark at a beautiful backwater resort at Kumarakom, Kalathil Lake Resort for lunch.

Kalathil Lake Resort is a luxury backwater resort in north of Kumarakom, Kerala. MOTOR BOAT CRUISE AT KUMARAKOM BACKWATERS

Morning by 10 AM pick up from the venue hotel, Le Meridien and drive to Thanneermukkom Jetty (around ½ hr drive). Board a Motor Boat from the Jetty and cruise along the serene backwaters of Kumarkom.

Kumarakom is a serenely beautiful and scenic backwater destination, a charming peninsula jutting into the ever-effervescent Vembanad Lake that is dotted with plenty of traditional rice boats and canos, leaving a scene that is immensely pleasing to the eye. The Vembanad Lake with its majestic canals, streams and distributaries along its banks weave an intricate and enchantingly beautiful web. The gorgeous green of the fringed palms ripple in the blue waters and blend into wavelets. The whole atmosphere spells peace, bliss and tranquillity.

By noon disembark at a beautiful backwater resort at Kumarakom, Royal Riviera Resort for lunch.

After lunch by 1400hrs resume your cruise and disembark at Thanneermukkom Jetty and drive to the venue Le Meridien.

BACKWATER CRUISE AT COCHIN

Enjoy daily backwater cruise available during AIOC 2012 from the venue Le Meridien itself. You can board the motorboat from the Jetty behind the convention centre and cruise along the serene backwaters of Cochin.
